Rigid or solid tapping styles are used for general purpose CNC machining. The rigid tapping cycle synchronizes the machine and spindle rotation to match a specific thread pitch. It is used at higher speeds, but does not compensate for length during the taping cycle.
Modular connections allow for single tap chucks to accept various tap shank diameters without changing machine tool holding set-ups.
